Yard Work II

A couple weeks ago I posted about not being able to get my Yard Work done because of it getting dark early.

Last weekend I was unable to do yard work because it rained on Saturday morning. The grass was too wet to mow in the afternoon and then I was out of town on Sunday as usual.

Backyard, Mowing the Yard, yard work, fall colorThe lawn in both my front and back yard was getting a bit out of control. Here is the backyard as it appeared on Thanksgiving. I had at least checked to see how tall the grass was getting.

Finally this afternoon I got to work.

Mowed Back yard, yard work, Electric Mower, Winter Green LawnThe lawn looks a lot better after mowing it. I am glad that I mowed the lawn today as I looked at the forecast and we may get rain tomorrow.

Electric Mower, Mowing the Yard, Lawn Care, Green Grass, Winter GrassIt is good that I turned my sprinkler system off about three weeks ago. If not the grass may have been too tall for my electric mower. In my Yard Work post from a couple weeks ago I posted a picture of an electric mower in India. Click on the link in the previous sentence to see the contrast.

Yellow Roses, November Roses, Thanksgiving Roses, Winter Roses, Pruning RosesI also worked on cleaning up my rose bushes. I am not yet ready for Winter Pruning as they are still blooming. These are in the entryway to my front door, but since the blooms are almost six feet above the sidewalk I can duck past them.

I have a few blooms that are almost ten feet above the ground. It is amazing that the rose bushes will grow so tall.

St. Patrick Rose, Hybrid Rose, November Rose Bloom, Yellow RoseHere is a beautiful November Rose. This one is on my St. Patrick rose bush which has beautiful yellow blooms with a green tinge to them. I also like the bits of red that many of the blooms have.

I am glad that I get to enjoy my roses almost the entire year. There are only a few months in the year when I do not have rose blooms.

  1. Thankfully it has turned much colder here and at last the grass has stopped growing. No more mowing until next March!
