Japanese Lunch

Last week we had colleagues visiting from Japan, so one day we took them out to lunch at Yanagi Sushi.

I have eaten at Yanagi Sushi a few times and have always enjoyed it.

Edamame, Soy Beans, Japanese Food, Yanagi SushiOf course we started off with some edemame. I always enjoy eating these soybeans before a nice Japanese meal.

Miso Soup, japanese soup, Yanagi Sushi, Japanese CuisineWe also started off with some nice miso soup. I try and make miso soup at home, but it is never quite as good as what I get in a restaurant.

Ginger and Wasabi, Japanese Condiments, Yanagi Sushi, SushiThere was also ginger and wasabi for those who were having sushi.

Dragon Roll, Sushi Roll, Yanagi Sushi, Sushi Roll, Japanese FoodOne of my colleagues had a dragon roll. I was able to try one of the pieces and it was not only beautiful but was also delicious.

Katsu-Don, Katsu Bowl, Breaded pork cutlet, fried egg, onion, riceI had one of my favorite dishes. This is katsudon which is a fried pork cutlet served in a rice bowl. The dish is topped with fried onions and egg.

The two Japanese colleagues who were with us both ordered the katsudon. Of course it is a very common lunch item in Japan.

The food was really good, but we also had a great time sharing a meal and also stories about our travels.

What is your favorite Japanese food?

Steven
