A Couple of Signs

By now you know that I am always on the lookout for interesting signs.

Tonight I was looking for inspiration for a post and ran across a picture of a sign that I took about a dozen years ago.

The picture was taken with my old digital camera that saved images on floppy disks, so the resolution is not so good.

Roll Your Joints inside the shop, humorous signs, Amsterdam, Coffee shop

DEAR CUSTOMERS, PLEASE ROLL YOUR JOINTS INSIDE THE SHOP

THANK YOU

THE MANAGEMENT

Today you might find a similar sign in a shop in Colorado, but twelve years ago you would only find this in Amsterdam. This was hanging on the window of a coffee shop that we walked past.

You could definitely tell what they were selling at the coffee shops when you walked by them.

This brings back memories of our local deputy sheriff visiting our junior high school classroom and talking about drugs. He burnt a small amount of marijuana in a crucible so that we would know what it smelled like. There is at least one person in my neighborhood who must have a medical marijuana prescription as I smell it once and a while.

DON’T FORGET TO CARRY YOUR THING

I found this sign humorous when I saw it in Shanghai during my first trip there in 2000.

This sign was in the small bus that would pick me up from the hotel and take me to the office each day.

Of course the intent of this sign is to remind you to check and make sure you have all your belongings. However, it struck me funny. What is the thing I am supposed to be carrying?

This reminds me of a post I wrote titled The Other Purpose? about a warning sign on a hair dryer in Japan.

You can also find a few other humorous signs in my post: Signs in Israel

Butchered English, English misspellings, Warning Sign, Antioch of Pisidia, Dangerus and ForbittenHere is another one from my post Wednesday Wandering III.

Oops, does posting this third sign negate my title? The title refers only to the first two signs which I have not shared before.
