When I was up in Canada last month we visited a Bass Pro Shops Outdoor World.
This brought back memories for me, as I remember visiting the first of the Bass Pro Shops in Springfield, Missouri when it was the only one.
I also remember visiting their warehouse full of taxidermy that eventually was distributed out to their new stores.
Here I am standing in front of the Bass Pro Shops Outdoor World in Toronto. You can see a big Moose statue behind me and can definitely tell that this location is in Canada with the big maple leaf above me.
Visiting Bass Pro Shops is always fun. I especially like to look at all the animals that they have scattered about the store. Bass Pro Shops selects displays that include animals that are from the local area.
I really liked this fox, and you can also see Canadian geese in the sky painted on the wall behind.
Of course, you can see deer in many places, but I especially like this display as it shows the deer in action and not just standing around looking cool. You can just imagine this deer scrambling through the underbrush trying to get away from a hunter.
This display definitely makes you feel like you are in Canada. They have a lot of bush pilots with seaplanes. Especially in the norther portions of Canada where a lot of hunting takes place.
This store also had some fantastic murals on the upper walls.
Can you spot the bear in the picture above?
Here is something that you won’t see in too many Bass Pro Shops. On top of one of the display areas was an old Snow Cruiser snowmobile.
The Snow Cruiser was made by the Outboard Marine Corporation of Canada. This one looks like it is from about 1970. You have to love that blue and orange color scheme π
Bass Pro Shops is almost as fun as going to the zoo, especially as the animals all stand still for you when you take a picture.

When I saw the headline in my email, I didn’t know if this was going to be about fishing or bass guitars! Since both are interests of mine, I had to check it out. Glad I did!
Stuffed animals freak me out. Thats a big place, more like a museum than a store. Do people think you are George Lucas some times?
