I really like sunsets and silhouettes and they often go together. I always like it when I can capture a subject against the backdrop of a sunset. The subject may be a person, place, thing or idea. Oops, I am getting this mixed up with a definition of a part of speech. That is a different post.
Back to what type of subject I like to capture in front of a sunset. I like capturing trees, buildings, mountains, birds and even people. Actually most anything that can be a noun. Oops, there are those parts of speech again. I must get that post written some day and out of my mind.
Tonight you get a nice silhouette and sunset.
There is so much that I like about this picture. First it is an interesting color for a sunset. Second we get a great silhouette of a palm tree and Mount Diablo. I really like the cyclical pattern of the palm fronds. We also have some interesting street level detail including a traffic signal that looks like it is attached to the trunk of the palm tree.
I also shared a nice sunset silhouette yesterday in my post titled Wordless Wednesday. I was just too tired to write anything. Here is that picture again.
I love this majestic Eucalyptus tree that is at the Dublin Heritage Center. You will have seen it in one of my other posts: Historic Reflection
In the previous post you get to see a reflection of this same tree. In this post you get this really cool silhouette as the sun is setting behind it. I like both the pictures for different reasons.
What is your favorite object to see as a silhouette? I really like trees because of the level of detail you get with all the branches. They also stand tall against the sky so are easily captured.

The sunset, silhouette and symmetry work great together. Thot I’d help you out with more alliteration for your speech.
Looks like those hills have eyes.
I always feel like margarita’s when I see sunsets and palm trees together, it’s like snow + christmas = eggnog.
Gorgeous!!! Where was this taken??
Both are taken in Northern California. The first in Tracy and the second in Dublin.
