Tonight I am going to share a set of sculptures that are at the Dublin Civic Center in Dublin, California.
This sculpture dedicated to firefighters is titled “The Ultimate Sacrifice”. I really like the detail in this sculpture of the firefighter and the tools that he uses while fighting fires. I also like the way that the little girl is looking up to him with admiration as he holds on to her hand.
Right next to this sculpture is another one.
This great sculpture honors the policemen and is titled “In the Line of Duty”. Again we have great detail in the sculpture and can also clearly see the tools that the policeman uses on a daily basis. The young boy also looks at the policeman with admiration.
If you haven’t already guessed, or seen this third picture, I will now show them together as they stand in the sculpture garden at the Civic Center.
Together these two sculptures make up a larger sculpture called “The Protectors”. The rest of the plaque may be hard to read in the picture, so I will post the words below.
“The Protectors”
A MEMORIAL TO THOSE WHO WENT BEFORE
A TRIBUTE FOR THE PRESENT
A CHALLENGE OF ENDURANCE FOR THE FUTURE TO FOLLOW
I always enjoy visiting this memorial, which I do occasionally as it is just across the parking lot from the Dublin Library which is one of my frequent stops. I even took my mother to see the sculpture on one of her visits. She had seen pictures of it that I posted on Facebook and wanted to see it in person.
When I stand in front of this memorial I find myself thinking of the great sacrifices that our Protectors make to keep us safe. I also like to think about the words on the plaque and think about the people I know who are firefighters or policemen.
Do you have a favorite memorial that you like to visit? Here is another one that I like to visit: The Firefighter

Someone’s done an amazing job with the detail on those. I do remember this park from a past post, good to go back. One of my favourite memorials is an eternal flame that burns year round at our Legislative Building. It commemorates veterans, as Jims dad was. It brightens up the night in the winter on a walk through the grounds.
thats the toughest job people will love you for doing
Wonderful sculptures, so detailed. Love the look of caring on the protectors faces and the look of adoration on the childrens.’ We have a coal miners sculpture here in Greenwood, Arkansas. And the wall with over 1000 thousand names engraved on it.
Thanks for the comments. I always like taking pictures of statues. More will be posted in the future.
